The theory of Later Heaven was brought up at taobums as an alternative to the theory of samsara. I’m shopping around for worldviews and I’m looking for a paradigm where desire is a good thing, that life is nice, etc and was wondering if anyone can give me the cliffnotes on this one.
Thanks,

i always like to avoid paradigms……
since when is desire bad anyway? don’t the people who say desire is bad desire to rid themselves of desire? dont they desire liberation and enlightenment?
Well, those people wriggle off the philosophical hook by saying that those desires are the good ones or that it’s a mystery.
The idea that desires (which are always selfish) is bad runs pretty deep but that’s the reason we are here–to sharpen the hell out of them!
Having recently beamed down, kids are full of spirit and their parents are less so… so I suppose it’s natural to try to get those tykes to cork it through teaching right and wrong. Meanwhile, the kids are teaching us to have fun.
Kids always win in the end. They are closer to the tao.
