Like Plato said, can’t ejaculate or the purpose of this exercise is defeated.

Also, the main point is to be completely relaxed while doing it. Take it extremely slow to increase the time so the body can adjust.

Sounds like chronic fatigiue symptoms….which have a variety of causes.
But many share same problem: weak earth element (stomach/spleen), and heart/fire element is busy dispersing your energy in all directions except earth.

I’ve discussed this with many healers in the qigong community. consensus is that you need to start with a lot of basic “opening the belly center/dantian” work.

Craig’s suggestion of Ocean Breathing (on qigong fundamentals 1 dvd of 5 Animals/6 healing sounds, available for $19.95) is good and cheap way to do that. You can also do Ocean Breathing lying down, just moving your fore arms in wave pattern over the belly.

The other thing you can do lying down or sitting. that is powerful is Pangu Mystical Qigong, and it builds the spleen/stomach.

that is on 8 Extraordinary Vessels Qigong dvd, which also has two other forms on it that I thnk would also help chronic conditions as they work on the organs and deepest channels that needles and herbs usually don’t.

    Hi Michael,

Thanks for the suggestions. The chronic fatigue is so profound that even just moving my arms in wave pattern over my body for more than a few seconds would be too exhausting .. I start out painfully exhausted, and all movement is just more of a strain. Only very rarely do I experience movement as effortless. So, can the ocean breathing movement be done just by visualizing it?

Yes, spleen/stomach chi is very deficient, although better than it used to be, and yes, needles and herbs for years didn’t help. I’m too sensitive to needles anyway. The homeopathy has acted on the deep levels tremendously, although not the physical yet.

I already bought your Deep Healing Chi Kung DVD, since that one seemed to be the one for chronic illness.. I’m watching it right now, and although I can’t do the standing practices, I visualize it and feel I get some benefit that way.

Now I’m not sure if that’s all I need, or whether the DVDs that have the Ocean Breathing and Pangu Mystical Qigong would be more appropriate.

    Thanks again,
    Karen

Thanks for the encouragement, Max. Even though today was a very challenging day, I remembered to do a few rounds of the breathing. Sometimes I was able to hold the breath 12 seconds. It varies so that I’m not seeing linear progress yet, but I’m used to progress not being linear :).

It seems like the right thing to do, and I’ll keep at it, because I do feel a subtle calmness from it already.

I never wear a watch, but I keep it on now as a reminder, and it works.

And I will keep the 9 bottle breathing in mind, although I gotta go one step at a time 🙂

Your energy body can get benefits of watching a qigong form on dvd, especially if you hold that intention of having your energ body do it and download it. Deep healng is too long for you physically but it brings up earth chi from the five directions, which is what you need.

The ocean breathing method I am talking about is a modification of the standing – its done lying in bed, with your elbows resting on the bed, so you only have to move your forearms and wrists towards the navel and coordinate it with your breathing. Inhale hands expand out, exhale hands come towards navel.

you can do that without the video.
Over time it will begin to build up. But if yo can’t do it physically, visualize it.

the most powerful non-movement form of breathing is on the chi kung fundamentals 3 audio called Internal Chi Breathing. Both the reverse breathng and counterforce breathing can be done lying down, no movement.

you might contact solala towler, editor of the Empty Vessel. he healed himself of serious chronic fatigue. don’t have his email handy, check his site, eitiher abode of the Tao or Empty Vessel. I’m sure he would help.

Here is a program called 1Time that you download on your computer- very useful when it comes to these type of breathing practices. Free download.

    Hi Karen,

I have had what I would call chronic fatigue, or at least fibromyalgia, in the past. Here are 3 things that have helped me:

    1. sungazing (at sunset or sunrise, or just looking near the sun in the middle of the day)

    2. a diet high in raw or nearly-raw shellfish, like shrimp, lobster, etc. , as well as very low in refined sugars and carbs. You can also try good-quality raw goat or cow’s milk or butter, or raw butter oil from http://www.greenpasture.org.

    3. http://www.ncrdoctors.com

Another option is something like http://www.naet.com, which I have just started using. Some Ormus products seem to help with this sort of thing, although I have only started using them recently.

Many thanks, Michael, will follow up on these suggestions. Right now the migraines are so severe that my only resort is the anti-migraine drug. Unfortunately as with all such drugs, it can only suppress and push the pain deeper into the system, which relieves it temporarily but then the body tries to express it again (hence rebound headaches).

I’m in that vicious cycle of rebound headaches, trying to wean off the drug, but all the best natural remedies can’t touch this pain (herbs, nutrition, etc.), and it’s super tough to go cold turkey with this (I’ve tried that before).

I’ve been doing dantien meditation to get energy into the lower body, but I don’t seem to be far enough with that to make a difference with the headaches.

Any other suggestions would be welcomed… the headaches I’m sure are related to yin deficiency heat flaring upward, and wind.

Hi, I’m glad you were able to overcome the fatigue. Sungazing is really interesting.. thanks for the reminder. I’d like to try that a bit. Here in upstate NY it’s a miracle to see the sun at all :-).

I use ORMUS products too, and really like the subtle energy feel of them, although haven’t noticed tangible results.

As for diet, I studied it intensely the past 5 years since I let go of the rigid vegetarian belief system. But I was on intravenous feedings for 10 years up until just one year ago, so despite all I know, I wasn’t able to implement a healing diet, so I’m still at a very early stage there.

Now as I’m regaining a bit of appetite, I use a lot of raw foods especially the animal foods as you mentioned. Raw meat (grass-fed bison) seems to give me some energy that I don’t get from other foods.

It’s just too bad that raw dairy products are so hard to get. I used to mail order them, but it’s too expensive now. At least you can find some raw milk cheeses even in the supermarket.

About NAET, I find that EFT and TAT work even better for me, can be done anywhere anytime, and don’t cost anything. Actually the acupuncturist who developed TAT (Tapas Fleming), used to practice NAET but finds that TAT works even better.

Those things haven’t helped my physical issues directly, but have helped all the other stuff, which is quite significant!

My sense is that the physical symptoms now are the healing crisis phase that just has to be gone through, because I can feel a sense of inner strength that I didn’t have before. So the healing is progressing in the right direction, from interior outward.

Chinese Tonic herbs are excellent for this. I suggest going to Dragonherbs.com and getting 3 months worth of the Treasure pak system. Just follow the direction and take these formulas and tea for 3 months(“100 days”).

After that, you will have alot more energy and probably fell much better. If you add some Tan tien breathing practice to that and build up the qi in the lower tan tien that would probab;y also be good. For the development of ‘Raw’ qi nothing is better than standing meditation .You can get a good explanation of the in Ken Cohen’s book ‘ The Way of Qigong’ or in Michael Winn’s internal qi breathing course.

but the Treasure pak system from Dragon herbs would be my first recomendation. Of course if you can find a really good chinese medicine person that would be good.

Also you may want to try out water therapy. It has helped many people with all sorts of health problems. Find out more on that at Sakthifoundation.org

eating fresh raw food has also been asserted to be very helpful by a number of people. Good luck.

Thanks, besides the qigong, I have done all those things for many years.. excellent TCM prescriptions but with little effect. The Qigong is what I haven’t practiced enough to give up on yet 🙂

    Hi,

I still recommend raw shellfish if you can get it, raw lobster (ask Plato about fresh raw lobster if you want), raw shrimp, etc. I love that stuff. I don’t think muscle meat is worth eating, for the most part, if you can get good-quality organ meats, and I think raw shellfish is better than either as long as you aren’t reacting to the mercury, and it’s of good quality (wild, if it’s shrimp or lobster).

have you ever heard of Vinny Pinto?

    http://www.vinnypinto.us

I highly recommend this book. It is the foundation of all nutritional education:

“nutrition and physical degeneration”, by Weston A. Price. You can get a cheap copy at http://www.alldirect.com.

Have you tried some regular old yoga? Headstands, forward bends, backwards bends, bridging, etc. It sounds like you really need some fire.

Have you tried raw coconut oil? I swear by it, it’s great stuff.
