I don’t think there is such a thing as raw coconut oil.
But anyway, how do you consume your coconut oil? Just curious. Thanks.
August 24, 2005 at 10:23 am #7482karenParticipantThanks, I’m well read on the Weston Price material, and used to talk with Vinny regularly. I’d eat organ meats if I was sure of the quality.. I can’t get grass-fed organ meats without mail ordering and paying a lot.
Mercury is a major issue for me, so I go easy on fish.

August 24, 2005 at 10:32 am #7484karenParticipantHehe.. well, I’ll tell you about the raw coconut oil. I have a gallon of it right here. I use it to make my own chocolate, and it’s become one of my staple foods. (I don’t seem to have any ill effects of chocolate in this form).
Assuming a few people might be interested at the sight of the word “chocolate” :-), here’s the idea: Pour unsweetened cocoa powder into bowl. Pour in enough virgin coconut oil until it mixes in. Pour in some raw honey to taste. Mix well, refrigerate, cut into pieces, eat.
Yes, the coconut oil has done a lot for me. it’s fabulous. I use the expeller pressed kind, which doesnt’ have a strong coconut taste, because using it so much, i get a little sick of the coconut taste.
Yoga is generally too much for me, except for some restorative poses, not the fiery ones. But thanks, and I will think about that.
I do need some real fire, not the false fire that I have so much of.
I was even considering taking up smoking natural cigarettes or medicinal herbs, for that reason! I don’t like the idea of putting any particles into my lungs, but small amounts might be fair enough. (?)

I also use the coconut oil just as I would olive oil.. salads, in raw sauces, in raw blender drinks, in cooking, etc, because it’s so heat stable. And I use the milder flavor expeller-pressed kind when I don’t want such a strong coconut taste.

August 24, 2005 at 3:14 pm #7490johnsonParticipantGuy-Claude Burger’s wife died of cancer through eating large amounts of raw muscle meat. I really wouldn’t suggest large amounts of it long-term. Are you sure you have serious mercury toxicity? If you do, I would doubly suggest the raw butter oil from http://www.greenpasture.com. Raw or lightly-steamed greens are good for detoxing heavy metals as well. I’m surprised Vinny hasn’t mentioned the butter oil.

I just now saw this post–thanks, looks great and I’m trying it, so I’m at a high point of the learning curve right now :-). I’m a bit confused about when to do the relaxed reps. You said to contract back into the active exhale without pause, so I’m not sure when to do the relaxed reps.
I think I’m exhausted and just not absorbing info very well at the moment.
After one active exhale/inhale I feel the urge to do some deeper breathing before the next active exhale. I’ll try to do the “relaxed reps” instead, to avoid gasping.
Oh, one interesting thing.. when I can’t hold the breath any longer, instead of just gasping for air, I tend to continue the exhalation to the very end for another second or two before the inhale starts. That was surprising.. not sure if it means anything.

August 24, 2005 at 7:15 pm #7494karenParticipantOh yes, I knew about the butter oil but it wasn’t available for a long time, and now that it is, it’s just too expensive for me– $60 for only 8 oz. I’ll keep it in mind and try to swing it at some point.
I’m not able to eat large amounts of anything, so I’m not concerned about the small amounts of muscle meat. Compared to where I was, eating practically nothing by mouth and getting synthetic nutrients pumped into me, it’s a huge improvement that I am deeply grateful for. Now to move forward.
And yes, I’m sure I have serious mercury toxicity, being addressed homeopathically.

August 25, 2005 at 2:03 am #7500TrunkParticipantI got into this stuff, pop-Taoist-cultivation-that-is-gradually-refining-itself (and other paths), first because I was interested in cultivation. However, I got really sick in 1990 – and it turned into chronic fatigue. I was a strong male, so I was able to grit my teeth for about 3 years, but after a while things started breaking down. Basically, I spent all of the 90’s really sick. So, yes, my consideration is that the accupuncturist that I found that was finally effective for my situation (and I went to a fair number prior that couldn’t help me), that quite possibly I’d be dead by now if it weren’t for him. (You hear me out there David?!? Thank you.)
