You are, after all, a highly cultivated householder.
August 9, 2005 at 5:43 pm #7211SheepyParticipantYes, it is a sort of practice that will get misunderstood. (i.e. see Rainbowbear)
August 9, 2005 at 6:47 pm #7213voiceParticipantTo elaborate a little (as, in rereading, both of our posts might sound a little sarcastic):
If you want to find and cultivate the inner “wild” (the non-conditioned), and if being domestic is the opposite of wild, then the domestic situation should be the most difficult place in which to practice?
Really, all situations provide something for cultivation, whether it be the beautiful porn ass, or the lawn in need of watering. The trick is, as you say, to be aware of what is present in the many levels of existence that are present in that space.

August 9, 2005 at 7:36 pm #7215mbanuParticipantSee, there’s a trick.
Being a Daoist is a lot like being a soldier. The best soldiers come from areas that have the most conflict. If someone else isn’t quite as expert a soldier, more than likely that means they’re fortunate enough to live somewhere more peaceful That’s one of the things being described in Chuang-tzu’s Peng bird story; The biggest birds can fly the furthest because they have to to get enough food. Being forced to go deeper into Daoism to attain what others can get with less is a terrible misfortune, not a bragging right.
Daoist practices are a lot like painkillers. If you’re taking stronger ones, it’s because you’re in more pain. If thelerner can live a meaningful life as a householder, he has it made. 😉 If he could have lived a meaningful life without having heard of Daoism at all, he would have been close to divine. If the division of his life into meaninful or meaningless had never occured, he’d have been near perfect; introducing him to Daoist practices would only have corrupted him. This is what was being talked about in TTC 65, when it says “In the beginning those who knew the Tao did not try to enlighten others, but kept them in the dark.”
August 9, 2005 at 8:09 pm #7217SheepyParticipant…it is nothing to be proud of in the sense that I am in more pain (or maybe I am just conscious of it).
However, it is where I am at–and if it leads me to be great, then that which I really shouldn’t have been proud of, has made me into something to be proud of.
😉
August 9, 2005 at 8:55 pm #7219farooqParticipant“I want you
I need you
but- there ain’t no way i’m ever gonna love you”(man if that song isn’t about suffering – i don’t know what is;0)
IMHO you may be lacking from cultivation of unconditional love
Love not only others but especially love yourself.
Find a quiet place and make love to your heart centre.
when unconditional love is overflowing there can be no lust or attachements.
peace and smiles to each and all
August 9, 2005 at 9:27 pm #7221thelernerParticipantSo, take the time to tell us about it. You’ve been at the fore front of many practices here from body weight work outs to penile weight lifting to piss drinking.
Always good to hear from a man in the field, especially one who’s been there.
Peace
Michael
August 9, 2005 at 9:49 pm #7223thelernerParticipantThere is the thought that as we advance spiritually we become more androgynous. Glenn Morris was really this idea.
Certainly the culturally conditioned macho posturing should melt away.

pAugust 9, 2005 at 10:19 pm #7227MaxParticipantIs talking to freinds is more real then starring at some girl’s ass?
Is going to a porn convention more beneficial then staying home and playing with your kids?
Can one get realization at the site of a naked woman instead of looking at the falling petals or a reflection of the moon in a quiet pond? The nature of all those things is the same, but our mind and social conditioning makes them so different and energetically charged.
It is not the beautiful naked ass that is the trap- it is the mind that is attaching to its asshole.
August 9, 2005 at 10:37 pm #7229singing oceanParticipantWell, the exact method is a bit much to go into here, and ends up just being information, but I can give you the outline.
You can find more detail in M.Winn’s article
“Daoist Internal Alchemy: A Deep Language for Communicating with Nature’s Intelligence”:
1. Micro-Cosmic Orbit & Fusion of the 5 Phases (Elements) & 8 Extra Channels
Stage: Develop energy body of adept, preparation for spiritual pregnancy.
Cauldron: lower dan tien2. Lesser Enlightenment of Water & Fire : Inner Sexual Alchemy
Stage: coupling body’s inner male & female spirits, conception of Immortal Embryo. Reversal (ni) of post natal qi into pre-natal qi to produce Lesser Elixir.
Cauldron: lower dan tien3. Greater Enlightenment of Kan & Li: Sun – Moon Alchemy
Stage: birth immortal child, nourish with Greater Elixir.
Cauldron: Solar plexus, inner earth is center of gravity.4. Greatest Englightenment of Kan & Li: Planetary Alchemy
Stage: Immortal Child matures, is fed True Elixir refined from Sun & planets.
Adept overcomes death/karma (ancestral incompletions).
Cauldron: Heart/middle dan tien, inner sun as center of gravity5. Sealing of the 5 Senses: Star Alchemy
Stage: Personal Shen and Great Shen couple, Original Spirit crystallizes.
Cauldron: Head/upper dan tien, inner pole star is center of gravity.6. Congress of Heaven & Earth
Stage: Early Heaven and Later Heaven copulate, open portal to Primordial Origin
Cauldron: all three cauldrons as one. Inner void is center of gravity.Of course, once these practices are completed, ones progress still deepens and constantly goes through the process of change.
A few more important points, I have found that after recently taking M. Winn’s and J. Gayheart’s Healing Love class, that it has greatly reduced my outward desire by circulating sexual energy through the heart while being energetically present inside the consciousness of the heart spirit.
The sungazing practice involves ingesting solar and lunar energy directly through the open eyes into the inner adept, energetics of this are discussed in Greatest Kan and Li. It is best to start this with 5 seconds, then slowly build it up to however long you want, also best done for beginners during time when sun is on the horizon and is less intense. The moongazing can be done any time, but it depends on the angle that you have to bend your neck, and how comfortable it is.
August 9, 2005 at 11:10 pm #7231singing oceanParticipantMovement methods to mobilize the jing I have found to be most effective are:
Pan Gu Mystical Qigong: involves spinning polarities in each of the left and right core channels, and combining them and spinning them in the central channel, then breathing three times and expanding the lower, midle, and upper dan tien.
Gods Play in the Clouds of Original Qi: involves gathering primal water, moving it through the five phases through expanded creation and counter creation cycle, and gathering primal fire, then reversing the two, and steaming inside the core channel.
Primordial Qigong: involves gathering energy of 7 directions into the center through earth and heaven cycles. This one is the best for incorporating all kan and li formulas.
August 9, 2005 at 11:51 pm #7233spyrelxParticipant. . . it is the mind attaching to its asshole
It is, I think, sadly true for all of us.
August 10, 2005 at 6:10 am #7235somlorParticipantYou can just use html right in your post for bold and italics. enclose whatever you want to bold with < b > text here < / b > (remove spaces before and after brackets) … and use < i > text here < / i > for italic.
sean 🙂
August 10, 2005 at 1:04 pm #7237spyrelxParticipantso this would be bold> and this would be italics.
