Wish You Could Fertilize Crops with Pee? Urine Luck
Modern synthetic fertilizer consists of varying amounts of nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P) and potassium (K), which are added to croplands to replace these depleted nutrients in the soil. There are several problems with this method, one of the primary ones being that these are finite resources.
Nitrogen, for instance, must be captured through a process that requires natural gas. And, unlike nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium cannot be synthesized, and our aggressive large-scale farming methods, which deplete soils of nutrients that then must be replaced, are quickly burning through available phosphorus and potassium stores.
Were now hearing discussions of peak phosphorus and potassium in the way we discuss peak oil, and, according to some, we may soon be facing looming shortages of these two critical fertilizer ingredients. According to well-known investor Jeremy Grantham, writing for Nature:1
These two elements cannot be made, cannot be substituted, are necessary to grow all life forms, and are mined and depleted. Its a scary set of statements. Former Soviet states and Canada have more than 70 percent of the potash [potassium]. Morocco has 85 percent of all high-grade phosphates [phosphorous]. It is the most important quasi-monopoly in economic history.
What happens when these fertilizers run out is a question I cant get satisfactorily answered and, believe me, I have tried. There seems to be only one conclusion: their use must be drastically reduced in the next 20-40 years or we will begin to starve.
Urine May Represent the Future of Fertilizer
Human urine is naturally rich in nitrogen, potassium, and phosphorus, and with about 30 billion gallons produced every year in the US alone,2 its certainly in abundant supply. For the average person, a years worth of urine contains about eight pounds of nitrogen and nearly one pound of phosphorus thats enough to grow about one years worth of food!

I work in the wastewater industry and learned a few years back about the depletion of phosphorus. In my business phosphorus is a pollutant, because so much of it is in our liquid waste stream, not only from human waste, but also our detergents. Currently, we are up against removing the phosphorus to prevent degradation of our streams (=$$$ and typically goes to landfill), but we have the ability to extract the phosphorus for reuse as well (=$$$?, use for fertilizer or other applications). With the phosphorus depletion that is occurring, this could be the direction we need to be heading…October 19, 2014 at 3:41 am #43042
I do hope so, that we find ways to use what harms us to heal us. I consider every time that I urinate elsewhere than on the ground to be a witheld gift that would have been appreciated by the green plantlife. I have restored several acres of distraught (damaged) forest land with the blessing of piss. Even the royal gardeners are doing it… Piss-bales, I believe they are calledurine-soaked straw.
It makes a difference in how I view myself, knowing that I create not “waste” but “gold”.October 20, 2014 at 9:16 am #43044
“I dont regret anything about my life. Crime is always a wrong move. Its true. However, we live in a society that is worse than criminality. Better to be crazy than to be a dreamer.”
Bottles filled with wine of beautiful vibrant colours refract the soft sunlight of the evening. The colours exude health and many studies have shown that including as much colour in ones diet is the key to fighting many diseases and deficiencies and for better health. Eating fresh fruits is the best thing you can do for your body, says Dr John Carmo Rodrigues, a PhD in microbiology and a practitioner of alternative medicine. He has made medicinal wines of around 130 fruits, vegetables and roots including ginger, turmeric, apple, grape, jambul, mango, guava, jack fruit and musk melon. Medicinal wines are non-clarified wines and are made for preserving the medicinal properties of the fruits, herb or spice of which it is made. Thus one can avail of the benefits of the fruits even during the season when they are not available and in places where the fruit does not grow, he adds. The medicinal value is in the suspended material in the wine. Medicinal wines are medicines first and wines next, he continues.
Egnatius, because he has snow-white teeth, smiles all the time. If you’re a defendant in court, when the counsel draws tears, he smiles: if you’re in grief at the pyre of pious sons, the lone lorn mother weeping, he smiles. Whatever it is, wherever it is, whatever he’s doing, he smiles: he’s got a disease, neither polite, I would say, nor charming. So a reminder to you, from me, good Egnatius. If you were a Sabine or Tiburtine or a fat Umbrian, or plump Etruscan, or dark toothy Lanuvian, or from north of the Po, and I’ll mention my own Veronese too, or whoever else clean their teeth religiously, Id still not want you to smile all the time: there’s nothing more foolish than foolishly smiling. Now youre Spanish: in the country of Spain what each man pisses, he’s used to brushing his teeth and red gums with, every morning, so the fact that your teeth are so polished just shows youre the more full of piss.
Long term practice of combined yoga postures and Pranayama can lead to lowering of the basal metabolic rate (BMR).
This is an ancient therapy which not only works on physical level but works much deeper than that which is mental and spiritual level. It is called Shivambu in Ayurveda and Amroli in ancient scriptures like Tantra.
This Indian version of drinking urine is already very advanced practice. It’s also very well thought out. Best way to do it is to first learn to survive with extremely scarce raw vegan diet in controlled situations.
Few months ago there was discussion about drinking one’s own urine, but I had impression that it was not meant to be totally serious.
Besides need to teach body to survive with very little amount of food & drink one also should learn to depressurize both bladder (vajroli mudra) and the lower part of the alimentary canal (ashwini mudra) in order to prepare certain special circulatory systems to get awakened. Also many other things.
But here seem to be problem who are the real adepts with this kind of very special advanced techniques.
My personal impression is that for example Swami Satyananda Saraswati, who seemingly has been seriously presenting himself as an adept with this so called amaroli, really didn’t master it. His guru Swami Shivananda still less.
So in my opinion it’s one of those practices which at least in yogic context belong to the class of so called open secrets.

Thanks, there is some interesting material in the links you provided. What do you think about the amazing abilities purportedly possessed by those yogis and TM practitioners?
As for Urophagia… Hmmm. I’ve tasted my “golden elixer” before, but currently have other use for it. There’s an article on this siteHealing Tao goes breatharianthat may be of interest. It discusses one man’s experience with drinking urine.
Mantak Chia, a Taoist master known throughout the world, gave proof of the extensive effectiveness of his energy work, when he was measured at an Institute in Vienna.
” It’s unbelievable!” says Gerhard H. Eggetsberger, biochemist and technical head of the Institute for applied Biocybernetics and Feedback Research, in Vienna. “This man is able to change his electrical skin resistance in a split second from 60 Q up to 6080 Q and to lower it down again. We even know how he does it – through a kind of sympathetic reflex. This means that he can simply switch from the Nervus Vagus to the Nervus Sympaticus. An untrained body would never do this as completely as he does this. We are scientifically proving spiritual knowledge that is 6000 years old!
Another interesting aspect can be seen, if you compare people who practice Taoist yoga with people who practice Kundalini yoga : Dr. Eggetsberger’s results show that both know how to influence the energy in their bodies to an amazing degree.
… in the Institute for Biocybemetics in Vienna. Gerhard H. Eggetsberger, the head of the Institute : “The Universal Tao practices are the first system I have come across that I can fully recommend.”October 22, 2014 at 4:57 pm #43048
As c-howdy mentions, this was discussed before, but just to repeat:
Yes, there are a lot of advocates of drinking urine in the HT community.
In fact, even Master Chia does this practice (you can see him drinking a glass of urine in his Cosmic Detox) book. Advocates say that it promotes saving of some hormones and vitamins, and drinking urine could kill some infections (although the latter bit I believe is simply due to it being mostly salt water).
I do not myself support the practice.
I think the negatives outweigh the positives.
1. Interfere in your body’s ability to remove the toxic substance urea from the body.
Advocates will say that on re-consumption of urine, it does not go back into the blood and it simply leaves the colon with solid waste. This is false. Your small intestines absorb everything, including toxins. This is why your body absorbs the toxic substance alcohol when you consume an alcoholic drink and you show a “blood alcohol level”. Everything you consume, on some level, makes its way back into the blood.
2. By #1, this means your body has to filter out this toxic substance twice. This creates extra wear on the kidneys.
Your kidneys do work to filter it out, and now they need to do so again.
This creates extra wear on your kidneys.
This is why those who are without water and drink urine to save their lives, often end up in the hospital when they are saved–not just due to dehydration–but due to kidney stress and inflammation.
3. Increases salt concentration in your body
Urinating is one of your body’s premier mechanisms for removing salt–an element which tends to accumulate in too high of concentrations through our diets as it is. Drinking urine drives your salt concentration (i.e. sodium levels) much higher than they would if they were not interfered with. Letting your body remove salt is very important and should not be interfered with.
4. Makes water-soluble vitamins toxic
Water-soluble vitamins can be taken in high doses, because what your body does not need, it expels in urine. If you re-consume your urine, you are interfering in your body’s natural protection mechanism. You can end up poisoning yourself by interfering in your body’s normal detoxification process.
In short, I can not support the practice.
If you are dying of dehydration, and you have no other choice, of course you should drink urine. There is no better option. However, if you access to water and you are not in a life-threatening situation, every “benefit” you could possibly get through drinking urine can also be achieved through other means that do not carry the negatives listed above.
If someone else disagrees and is really passionate about urine drinking, then that is their choice and I am happy that they are happy. I myself will choose different beverages.

In the autumn of 1996, he let psychologists in Los Angeles take his EEG-graphs, The results were astonishing. During the practice of certain techniques, his brain not only produced beta-waves (which are characteristic of the waking state), but also alpha and theta-waves, (which normally occur only during deep meditation or deep sleep), while he was talking animatedly with the scientists. ‘ How is it possible to be wide-awake and yet send certain regions of the brain into deep sleep?
“Today’s young men want to die young by whatever means.”
“Tonight you’re going to find out some gruesome facts that the old seers collected about the rolling force; and you’re going to see what I meant when I told you that the old seers chose to live at any cost.”
Don Juan turned to Genaro, who was about to fall asleep. He nudged him.
“Wouldn’t you say, Genaro, that the old seers-were dreadful men?” don Juan asked.
“Absolutely,” Genaro said in a crisp tone and then seemed to succumb to fatigue.
He began to nod noticeably. In an instant he was sound asleep, his head resting on his chest with his chin tucked in. He snored.
I wanted to laugh out loud. But then I noticed that Genaro was staring at me, as if he were sleeping with his eyes open.
“They were such dreadful men that they even defied death,” Genaro added between snores.
“Aren’t you curious to know how those gruesome men defied death?” don Juan asked me.
-CARLOS CASTANEDA, The Fire From Within
Perhaps in the process of reconstructing its corporeal form, this new and wholly original entity achieved a complete mastery of all matter; able to shape reality by the manipulation of its basic building blocks. When news of this being’s phenomenal genesis was first released to the world, a certain phrase was used that has-at varying times-been attributed both to me and to others. On the newsflashes coming over and over our tvs on that fateful night, one sentence was repeated over and over again: ‘The superman exists and he’s American.’
-PROFESSOR MILTON GLASS, Super-powers and the superpowers
What comes to this forum I have impression that only Ribosome has openly promoted urine drinking recently. When I have tried to inquire if he also likes receiving & giving urine showers no answer have been received. Also I have understood that Ribosome is mixing urine with (camel?)milk which I personally find quite uninviting. For amaroli coctails one could use John Carmo Rodrigues type of self made special wines for example.
Amaroli itself as a practice could become, in my opinion, more seriously optional when one’s perceptions are progressively becoming subtle in some particular sense.
My intention was not to belittle Shivananda or Satyananda, but through observing their phenotype one immediately must judge that both have had quite large, loose and hanging paunches. So if they still have had human biochemistry, they must have had some physical defects also.
If somebody has super-powers maybe these should be kept hidden even if used.
Anyway for sure there is quite big difference if one for example compares James Hydrick and John Chang.
Sorry for my broken English.
Ps. God exists and he’s American.
This book has nothing to do with Tantra, or spiritual sexuality. Whatever the author’s knowledge might be, it is certainly not in the area of caring for others or of common sense. Unless however, you include the author’s and the publisher’s desire to make money off the reading public, a form of common sense. If you want to invite dark or malign spirits into your life and reap the rewards of that, this will not bring you anything positive. You can entertain yourself, or improve your life in so many other ways. I recommend that you do not journey down a path such as this. Your life is precious, don’t waste it or throw away your energy with this subject matter.
I would have to warn all who read this infamous book to be very careful what you’re getting into.I tried the magick contained in it and it works,in fact since I was a virgin and got desperate,I put the rituals to the test with disastrous results.Even though I effectively lost my cherry there was a horrible price to pay,I wound up homeless and everyone I knew turned against me.Even though by the grace of God I survived to tell the tale quoting James Marsters as Spike the vampire in the Season 6 Buffy episode,”Bargaining Part 2″ in the relevant part states that,”The problem with magick is that there’s always consequences always!”.Even some holy texts like the Bible make such warnings clear and I learned a terrible lesson, there are some forces that are best left alone and I won’t ever do those rituals again. Also,I broke up with my girlfriend and I had to leave the city where this ritual was done. The kind of magick in this book is extremely dangerous,I even got rid of the copy I had!For the price I paid to get laid,I got more than I actually bargained for that I’ll rather be without a girlfriend than extremely suffer for a fleeting thrill…It ain’t worth it at all!!!
