It seems western alchemy is organizing itself and hitting the strip this Oct. with a conference.
And why not Las Vegas? Alchemists like to have fun, and they are definitely gambling with their souls every time they light the fire in their cauldron….The major focus seems to be on laboratory or external alchemy, as per the Alchemical Guild focus, but a handful of “spiritual alchemist” ranging from Jungians to magicians are also invited – may be too early to know who actually comes.
I am considering going to drop t he seed of Taoist alchemy into their cauldron. Maybe teach some thing simple, like the embodied meaning of the Ouroboros myth (snake swallowing iteelf) – the orbit.

Adam McLean’s site. Very voluminous, a good starting place. However I recommend not taking his courses. There was also a guy somewhere in Utah I think, name of Frater Albertus, who spent his life with this stuff.
Franz Bardon was going to write a book on Alchemy – he could cure cancer and multiple sclerosis with it apparently – but the Communists finished him before he had a chance. NN
Is interesting… So why do you not recommend his courses?
I am well aware that quality practicioners are scarce.

I have a feeling inner and outer alchemy work better together.

I think there are a couple of people who are teaching it more openly now.
BTW two things – 1st, it's not often said on this board but if you are at a certain level and put out the intention to find a teacher you will find one, esp. if you are in a big city. They are all over the place, they just do not ever write or talk openly. But go to a big city – New York, London, Paris. Forget finding Yoda on Dagobah!
2nd is related – I do not know whether the alchemy conference in Vegas is of interested academics or people who practice what I would call 'real' alchemy. Of course the idea is that these barriers must be broken down, but I do not know the extent to which they have been yet. I must say I am very impressed with Michael's record of putting his stuff out in front of the starchiest shirts, so he would do some good in either case. The conference itself is likely to be a confused experience but it's nice to see it happening!
Bardon's 'Initiation' contains instructions for making some complex and beautiful 'fluid condensers' which are certainly wonderful, if difficult. I confess I would rather have a real alchemist make them for me! I make only simple condensers but this could be regarded as a vaguely alchemical operation in itself. Some details can be found in Mickaharic's 'Magical Practice'.
A fluid condenser, for those not in the know, is a liquid that (in Chinese terms one would say) stores chi energy and intention to a high degree. Common magical uses involve making objects such as mirrors, figures, etc., with condensers, and then enlivening them through ritual intention, etc.
I've put an Amazon link below to a new book by a well-regarded author, Manfred Junius. Another author I've heard praised is Beat Krumenacher, but his books seem to be out of print. I haven't read either yet.
There is an interesting episode of Taoist external alchemy in 'Opening the Dragon Gate' about Wang Liping, tr. Thomas Cleary. Mind you, the Flower Essences that are sold here and elsewhere are produced by alchemical procedures too, in a broader sense. One could even look at such a simple operation as burning incense in an alchemical light.
You are definitely right that the two, inner and outer, work together.

But this year I.m hitting for a Pharmaceutical College.

Scientists could put together exactly the same ingredients that (exterior) alchemists do, but would not get the same results. There is more to the materials used in external alchemy than meets the eye, just as there is more to everything than meets the eye. However I know hardly anything, so I will shut up. Go forth, prosper, and come back and tell the forum how you got on!

Fluid Condenser is a key concept in internal alchemy as well – what do you think condensing sexual fluids is about?
N’s point in a later post that external alchemy doesn’t work without accomplishment in internal alchemy is also key. That is how I met my lab alchemy teacher – he was coming to learn Taoist inner alchemy in order to take his lab alchemy to a higher level. He had already liquified gold at room temp. But he said the elementals will not respond to you if you don’t have the right internal vibration…..
Good luck Little1 on your quest…..please let me know how pharmacology can speed up development of the immortal body… that’s what Taoists used Reishi mushrooms for….maybe you will crack th secret of those spores….
