I mentioned the PEAT work to a collegue and it ended up he had taken an 3 day seminar a few years back in the US. We’re going to make a day and get me up to speed on it next weekend. So far from what he has related to me it seems similar at least in principle to Shamanic Entity work where we communicate with the entity or aspect and find out it’s ultimate purpose – eventually integrating and communicating that the dualities have the same goal. I’m looking forward to getting more detail on the practice itself.

I’m still relatively new to the Taoist healing arts but I’ve had a lot of experience with Vipassana and my “parts” coming up and biting me on the ass. I read an experience by Michael where he mentioned that he met a former monk who had problems implementing Vipassana in the city and that is interesting because I have met quite a few people who’ve had that issue too. From my own experience I notice that after long retreats I develop an attachment to what I believe that “integration” or “peace” should be. Coming back to the city I begin to resist the new energy which can seem aggressive or a bit of a struggle. When I surrender to it I notice that it’s not that the energy itself needs to dissipate but that I learn to make my mind move past the struggle by yielding to it. I can’t really comment on what is happening Alchemically as I don’t know the lingo.
I work as a kinesiologist and NLP practitioner and notice that while a lot of the work I do allows people to “clear” issues at a certain level – I feel that at deeper levels the root of the issue still exists. In a sense the perception that this energy is an issue at all is a mind state that pulls us into believing that we have problems – but “purifying” that mind state seems to require a lot more work than what can be achieved in a short kinesiology or NLP session. I believe that the two work well together but I do not believe that NLP or kinesiology work as effectively as some types of meditation at the deepest levels. Then again many people who come to me don’t want to work at the deepest levels – they just want to be able to do what they want to do without undue pain and suffering. It just depends on what we want.
What I have noticed though and this is with practitioners too is that we can keep trying to use techniques to run away from actually transforming or understanding our issues. If a deeper level of integration or reconciliation is to take place we have to meet that energy. For the record I did spend quite a few years using meditation also to block my awareness of certain issues. But again I believe that it’s about what the individual wants and needs at that particular time.

Hearing about not underestimating the power of the inner smile was important to me at this time too – I find I can have a tendency to feel like moving on to the microcosmic orbit because it gives me so much energy – but neglecting the inner smile can tend to make my practice feel “cold”. I’m just getting into healing sounds – the philosophy itself is new to me, but it feels good -still getting the hang of connecting the sound to the organ though.
Thanks for the links to the other info too guys.
Mat I’m in melbourne, do you have a group in the area?
May 12, 2006 at 4:23 am #14001hugoParticipantI appreciate the advice guys. I’m in Australia and for some reason the link for instructors doesn’t seem to work for me so if in anyone knows anyone…what you guys have said about practicing the basics is solid advice. I’ve been practicing the inner smile and microcosmic orbit for about 6 months, the healing sounds only for about 1 week. In any case I feel great, it’s a lot easier to sit my mind in my lower abdomen now. With the microcosmic orbit I find it “messy”(best word I can use to describe it) to see anything, but I can definitely feel the energy move around, although my mind seems to skip at certain places. How long would you advise I stay just with the basics before adding other things to it? I mean I do enjoy the meditations themselves, but working directly with emotions has always been an interest of mine, and I noticing that while the inner smile is giving me a feeling of nurturing and loving, certain emotions that I’ve always had still seem to be lingering around in the background. In any case thanks for the sincere and genuine advice guys!
