Compare these two statements…
Michael:
>>I feel Buddhism in general to be male Old Boy religion, even though they don’t put any male god on the throne. They put the formeless on the throne, which is a subtle way of ***de-throning the physical and the female role in birthing physical form.*** … it is clearly patriarchal, ***run by men…[Read more] -

>>When we realize our true nature, we realize that desires will only lead to more pain<<
How about the desire to do Sanfeng alchemy?
How about the desire to cure cancer?
How about the desire to make love to your wife?
How about the desire to eat a bowl of rice?
Jeesh, it's no wonder Buddhists get to be such serious broody types…[Read more]

… ie, it’s not by a practitioner. I hope and believe that the many arguments on this forum are based on real spiritual issues rather than points of dogma.
A couple of moments reveal the writer’s scholarly/academic (rather than spiritually seeking) mindframe, eg.:
“For him, [this John Hick guy, a fellow scholar presumably] it means that the…[Read more]

I’m sorry if I seem very harsh on religion or whatever. I have no religion myself and feel much better without it, just relying on direct experience – but I do realize that the right religion for the right person can do alot of good. This excerpt from “Adventures Beyond the Body” by William Buhlman sums up my attitude really well:
>>>

Well I make a distinction between religion – a method of controlling people for political ends as often as not – and the wisdom and spiritual experience upon which it is based. NN

I think it really is just words that we disagree on then. I can’t see how what you just said equates to seeing human desire as meaningless or the self as non-existent, but if you feel that is a good way of saying it then I guess that’s your prerogative! I notice that Bagua now agrees with Michael in principle anyway that you don’t ‘lose the self’…[Read more]

There is no sharp divide between yuan shen and the rest, you know as well as I do that it is more subtle than that.
The truth is though that it is all YOU.
ALL YOU.
ALL SELF.
NEVER NOT-SELF.

– becoming enlightened does NOT mean giving up the self.
– there is nothing wrong with ego unless it is misused.
– the body is important.
This is what Michael is saying.
So you agree with Michael!
Yay!

And tell me, *who* would see it?
