Upon reflection, I think I understand and can see the role of alchemy and cultivation in my own experience in creating a lucid, permanent connection with dream states (“the unconscious”), but being tired from work all the time doesn’t help.
Lets see if I can merge this model presented here with the alchemical model:
“conscious” self (later…[Read more]

This is very interesting to read about the conscious and unconscious mind. Do you think that some people are better able to access the unconscious (as in dream practice), and maintain lucidity in that while others may have a more foggy connection? What would be the reason for this sort of imbalance?

>>”If it’s Reality you seek, why do you need visualization to find it?”
Max,
There are five organs in the body, five seasons, five elements, virtue qualities etc. We RESONATE and HARMONIZE with reality, we do not visualize.
Why do YOU need letting go to find (what you think of as) emptiness???
i.e. If its Reality you seek, why do YOU…[Read more] -

We all have our biases, I think it is fair to acknowledge and express that, and see them for what they are.
Whether or not Lu Dong Bin or Zhongli Quan actually lived is something to think about, and apparently there is some evidence for their existence as real people, seeing as there are texts attributed to them during the time period they were…[Read more]

Max,
you did not read my post correctly, and have falsely misconstrued what I said: I said Alve places “Anuttarasamyaksambodhi” ABOVE the jade emperors realm. YOU are confusing the issue. Some clarity of mind would be appreciated here.

>>”In the time of Wang, almost all serious seekers studied all three of the spiritual/philosophies.”
I think your personal bias comes out in this statement, and in the Tang and Song dynasties, as it is now, incorporating buddhism and confucianism was probably a case of personal preference.
Although Wang Zhe (Chongyang) chose to…[Read more]

He was trained in the egyptian mystery schools:
“as above so below,
as within, so without”22. Jesus saw some babies nursing. He said to his disciples, “These nursing babies are like those who enter the (Father’s) kingdom.”
They said to him, “Then shall we enter the (Father’s) kingdom as babies?”
Jesus said to them, “When you make…[Read more]

I will overlook your convenient ignorance of Alve’s sources for the moment. Alve seems to have created a mishmash of cosmologies: most texts (in religious daoism) that deal with the heavenly immortals and the deities of the celestial bureaucracy place the three pure ones, with the jade emperor as the most refined state; not the buddha.
While…[Read more]

Alve Olson is clearly influenced by and resting on Buddhism because his whole frame of reference rests on the ultimate buddhist state of “Anuttarasamyaksambodhi”.
Why would a daoist rest his/her whole frame of reference on a buddhist deity? When you meditate, do you have an expectation of emptiness, or are you stepping into the unknown,…[Read more]

Alve Olson is clearly influenced by and resting on Buddhism because his whole frame of reference rests on the ultimate buddhist state of “Anuttarasamyaksambodhi”, unless your quote was just completely taken out of context and he was using that as a metaphor for the mysterious source (wu ji) or the primordial chaos-unity (hun dun).

As long as we are clearly taking biased points of view here, I have to point out the absurdity of this statement:

This is a convenient description that uses only buddhist terms: from what you say, we are to believe that only the buddha attained immortality, and the heavenly immortals only attained enlightenment?

Fusing the five elements of the organ qualities are the foundation to fusing the deeper polarities of yin and yang to open the neutral space (on different interdimensional levels). Each higher formula simply fuses and draws in more stable polarities from the mind of nature in different cauldrons in the body to create deeper levels of neutral…[Read more]

I am not answering your question but just want to stress the importance of transmission. When one learns the alchemy formulas from someone who has successfully forged that pathway, your energy body resonates with them and learns much more quickly than from a tape or from reading a book.

It is good to keep in mind that this is a process that continually goes deeper. The vital organ shen are accessed by activating as many of their resonant pathways as possible: color, virtue quality, season, smell, taste, sound. Eventually through repeated communication, the pathway and the answer from the shen becomes stronger. The five phases…[Read more]
