Very inspiring to see progress and how closely you are attuning to the body. Also this practice is the most challenging for me. There is something that is happening as I practice Tao Yin and do the lumbar exercises and then the tendon stretching while seated that teaches me a lot.
When I do stand I can find the tendon connection more easily.…[Read more]

HI Adel,
I spent 5 months practicing in Thailand. I did have netting around my bed and that was essential for any well being so I could also keep windows and doors all open.
I found, and this is me and my sleep rhythms, that going to sleep when the buggers are just up and about, under the netting, and then rising after midnight to…[Read more]

I love Steven’s clarity. You go Steven!!
I have one thing to add that works for me and that is the use of the spiral- maybe what you mean by diffuse waves- and not so much the straight energies.
Breathing in the testicles AND the penis too is something Barry Spendlove taught me.
There is something about the spiral that matches…[Read more]

Beginner replied to the topic Different ways to circulate the energy — Whats best for healing? in the forum Practice 14 years, 11 months ago
These are yin and yang ways of gathering and circulating energies. They both sound very effective for you. If it is about healing then the question is what is the nature of the imbalance. The ball approach as you describe it feels very fiery and could move stagnant cold energies. While the lack of compression method may embrace the excess heat and…[Read more]

Wow I see what you mean about suffering from too much but it certainly isn’t as cramped as Michael’s whose site makes my head hurt.
What is missing for me right away is your picture. You are in the Chinese ones but there is no focal point of a person to relate too, who these words are rising from and somehow it is the look in the eyes that…[Read more]

Hi guys,
It seems to me since this is both an external breathing method and an internal intentional energetic process the rib cage has to lift for the diaphragm to rop and the breath to come in!
Though as the process sinks in I do find the focus going more into the tan tien that Dog suggests so it isnt just an external willful doing. Barry

I find myself somewhere between Jernej and M’s and V’s suggestions. I love to create theater and at its core is ovarian testicle breathing. Working the heart and kidneys too. They are very cautious it seems about pulling too much on the lower chakra—perineum and anal pullups so as not to awaken the kundalini prematurely.
It seems with…[Read more]

he speaks about it in the greater kan and li’s in reference to connecting to the earth. It seems to be in its best context there as the work is integrating the earth into your own center. then the changes to come whatever they are find a resonant field in our own psyches. At least that is the work….barry

Hi Steven,
Since practice is the only way to sustain the formulas I appreciate your taking the time for retreat.
Reading your accounts I have the sudden recognition how you made it a bit easier for me and in extension for all of us.
As if no matter what the obstacles we encounter that appear to be so personal and subjective…[Read more]

Hi Chris,
Yeah what a year…whew… it continues as I go to Thailand to support a Yoga Teacher training this winter/spring. There for 6 months. Then back to Heavenly mountain. Perhaps I will meet you this year.
How are you doing with the kan and li? Have you been practicing? Perhaps better over e-mail but I am interested in how you…[Read more]

Hey Steven,
I saw this in London. You will like it. It is about a dying order. What young man wants to go here anymore?
The part I recall the most was the sound. Against the backdrop it was an avalanche and a constant accompaniment to the Great silence.
Personally I would have liked to watch Taoist monks in the mountains but…[Read more]

Hey,
Another way is this. Witness/guide the heat as heat- not story- through channels that release it as in the arms and legs, fingers toes and sense organs. Stick tongue out, stare at a flame, steam out your ears. Usually it will want to rise. And watch what comes in its place.
I suggest this because I read some fear/worry in your…[Read more]

Hi!
How was the rest of your summer? I am blogging a bit here but much less.
I love that about this poem. Its vulgarity and an edge of the mundane as ecstatic…but embodied. I feel like this sometime…so fertile with all and the courage and grace she writes it with just made me laugh and read it over and over for the sensitivity that…[Read more]

I like the improvisation you describe. As with anything one needs to follow some tradition to become familiar with the terrain. No? Why reinvent the wheel if you want to get to the frontier quicker? However, once in that wilderness with community and tools who knows what we are to build and with what inspirations but our relationship to the moment…[Read more]
