check out this guy, if you like, teaching not just forms but applications in a practical way, I think. Even for non martial qigong practice it helps get knowledge helpful in handling psychic defence and applications. All very nice to be virtuous and blessing but not much good if get injured by losing root, balance, in everyday interactions and…[Read more]

the phrase ‘have your cake and eat it too’ reminded me of the BBC radio word game show ‘My Word’ which ended in 1990 but used to get replayed. One of the word plays was on this phrase and it was made into a comedic story about its origins involving ‘how to have your kayak and heat it too’.
“Most listeners tuned in for the final round, in…[Read more]

hence the return to formless tai chi boxing as per video clip. Earthstone Chu taught this approach at the Melbourne Push Hands Club in the 2000s (now dissolved). Emphasis on all tai chi principles but no fixed forms; agile and explosive power from any part of body. For health just emphasise the loose, agile, flexible but strong in the core; like…[Read more]

just like to add, it seems to me that too much emphasis on visual channel can really stuff up your energy balance, especially as we know out culture tends to over emphasise this one. As Steven says it is one aspect of inner alchemy training. Learning how to shift your attention around the fives senses, the organs, meridians and the into the core…[Read more]

PS. With CKF 1-4 this kind of playful expression is available with practice. In 5 animals CK allowing energy flow head to feet in postures sets up this kind of flow. Some of his postures are like Tiger and Deer in playful expression.

I like this teacher (link address). His site has history tab on http://www.yichuankungfu.com/yichuan/history/
The writings and video are interesting, to me, and I post the link here in case someone else might enjoy. He deals with some weird ideas quite well in the interview.

another way of saying it; I recall a certain yogi saying ‘Lord Shiva doesn’t know that he’s grinding you’. Hence better to be closely aligned with Shiva/Shakti, I think he meant. Less unconscious ‘grinding’ in polarities I suppose.

sure you know it needs maturity of understanding, to acknowledge the continuum between beyond and body. Posted a link to http://www.bhagawan-nityananda.com/ where in relation to yoga he is saying hatha yoga is selfish, into power and the body too much, just concentrate in the head etc. Elsewhere yogis saying hey, you need hatha yoga body based…[Read more]

Well this is good to know and I accept your say-so on the distinction. So the count for 8 is front and back channels, the central thrusting channel as one (even though can treat as left right and centre), that is 3, add belt 4, plus the yang and yin wei, plus yang and yin qiao (on pages 204 and 205) total 8. I had a model of arm and leg channels…[Read more]

Okay but I was not referring to a Chia book. I was referring to page 205 of Twicken book on 8 extras, diagram 22.2 a). That shows arm channel.
I accept what you say about 8 extras versus macro.
